Good morning, fam!
Welp, it looks like it’s going to be a White Christmas after all. Too bad it’s also going to be a TWENTY FOUR DEGREE Christmas, too.
While I pull up the Yule Log on YouTube and pretend it’s a real fireplace, check out this week’s recs.
Put on those matching PJs, pour yourself an Irish coffee, and let’s get into it!
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
I bought a new round of books to prep for my week off next week and the first one I read through was Ling Ma’s second book Bliss Montage: Stories. It’s a collection of eight fictional stories that blend everyday life with a health dose of surrealism. One of them is about a woman who lives with all 100 of ex-boyfriends…
Abby and I are watching the newest season of What We Do in the Shadows during dinner and it is by far the wildest season yet. “The Night Market” is easily my favorite episode so far, but if you haven’t seen any of the series, start with the movie.
I gave in and started the newest season of Emily in Paris because I’m a trash person with no self control. This is one of those cases where I know it’s horrible TV, but that’s what makes it so good! At least, that’s what I tell myself while yelling at Emily and Gabriel for being dumdums.
For movie night, we went full tilt into the holidays and watched Love Actually. I’m not gonna lie - it had been so long since I had seen it, I forgot it takes place in London. Crazy, innit?!
After weeks and weeks of playing through God of War Ragnarök, I finally finished the story and I see why it won so many awards. If you’re a fan of Norse mythology and love a good story, you have to play this game.
To celebrate Parker and Martha winning our Bake Off fantasy league, we chipped in and bought them a Levee High Apple Pie from The Blue Owl bakery in Kimmswick, MO (Thanks, Paul!) We ate it while watching The Great British Baking Show: Holidays episode with The Derry Girls because what else do you watch while eating a massive pie?
During our Bake Off night, I also tried Zapp’s Voodoo Pretzel Stix for the first time and they are dangerous. They’re basically Voodoo chips and Dot’s Pretzels combined (two of the best snacks ever created).
Last night was the annual Beer Party where everyone brings a bunch of booze to share. We went with a bottle of 2022 Bourbon County Stout for the beer lovers and Cardamaro for the…wine and amaro lovers? It was damn tasty and a nice way to end the evening.
Are you ready for the best-of season?
If you’re still on Twitter, are you paying for the blue check mark?
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
