Good morning, fam!
It’s Leo season/my birthday week, baby! Not sure what to get me? You could always send this to a friend who might also enjoy it (Hint: use the button in the footer).
But enough about me!
Go find your Furby, toast up some Eggo Minis, and let’s get into it!
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
After waiting for what felt like an eternity for the paperback version to come out, I finally started reading Beautiful World, Where Are You? Imagine a love story between four people where a lot of the context is filled in via emails sent back and forth. It’s my first time reading Sally Rooney, but it definitely won’t be my last.
Thanks to peer pressure from all parts of the internet, I finally gave Harley Quinn on HBO Max a try and…binged all three seasons up to this point. It’s crude, violent, and glorious. Think Batman:The Animated Series meets The Boys.
If you also grew up with an unhealthy obsession with comic books, then X-Ray Vision is the podcast for you. Each week, Jason Concepcion (podcast host and writer) and Rosie Knight (comic book writer and reviewer) break down nerd culture and share their favorite comics. And yes, it’s another Crooked Media joint.
After ranting about how good Finnish Long Drink is during last week’s episode, I tried the cranberry flavor. Decent, but still not as good as the OG grapefruit.
Last night for my birthday dinner, we finally went to a local Italian place called Acero and as someone who doesn’t eat a ton of pasta anymore (gluten/tummy stuff), it was well worth popping a few extra TUMS after.
Speaking of my birthday (I can’t help it - I’m a Leo), as an early present to myself, I just got the 007 Speed Champions Aston Martin DB5 Lego set because I’m an adult and I do what I want.
At the ripe old age of 34, the only thing I want to get sauced on is actual sauce. That’s why I’m having a BYOS (Bring Your Own Sauce) birthday party and after doing far too much research, I’m planning on brining Beaver Brand Honey Mustard.
I spent wayyy too much time this week watching Harry Mack videos on YouTube. Never heard of him? He’s literally the best freestyle rapper in the world and he built his following by freestyling for random people on Omegle. Check out one of his newer videos where he raps for one of his toughest audiences yet: a bunch of high school kids going to prom.
Here are some road signs for your co-workers.
Want to break into tech? Start with the “three F’s.”
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
