Good morning, fam!
Hope you all had a good workweek.
It has officially been 70° or above for most of the week, which can only mean on thing…
It’s officially patio season, baby!
Grab some friends/co-workers you don’t hate, order a round of IPAs, and let’s get into it.
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
After reading Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow a while back, I wanted to check out other books by Gabrielle Zevin. Luckily, I stumbled across The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry and blew through it in three days. It’s a quick read perfect for any book nerd who likes romance, humor, and a moving story about family.
OK, so you’re going to be getting a lot of Succession #content from me over the next seven weeks, especially since it’s the last season. After watching one of the single greatest episodes of TV (I’m obviously talking about “Connor’s Wedding”), I was shooketh to my core. Get caught up before the internet ruins it for you.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, we started watching Younger and it has snowballed into an unhealthy obsession. TL;DR: It’s about a 40-something woman who pretends to be a 20-something in order to start a second career after a messy divorce. Watching it with a 2023 lens makes it super cringey, but Hilary Duff makes it a little more palatable.
Instead of movie night, a bunch of us went to the Science Center for Great Taste of St. Louis. It was basically three stories of top notch restaurants from all over STL sharing small plates. My favorite bite of the night was easily the Paw Paw Vinegar Pie from Bulrush. It sounds weird, but think mini key lime pie.
After hitting up Quarrelsome Coffee again (a new coffeeshop that is wayyy too cool for me), I decided to try their Espresso Tonic (with Fentimans Tonic) and it blew me away. I will be drinking approximately one to seven each day as we finally get into summer.
Ever wonder why LinkedIn is so weird? Well, thanks to the people who told what consultants actually do, we finally have some answers.
If you ask me, I think us Yanks could learn a thing or two about how to be happier (or more content) from the Finnish. Here’s their secret.
As someone who has worked in human-centered design for over a decade, I could not agree more with Starbucks’ new CEO and his thoughts on senior leadership working as baristas.
Hot take, but if you ask me, everyone should learn how to use PowerPoint.
It’s been a while since we all hunkered down during quarantine, but I thought I’d share the people you meet during COVID. Did I miss anyone?
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
