Good morning, fam!
Hope you all had a good workweek.
After one of the craziest weeks in recent memory, this weekend is looking pretty tame. I even stayed in last night! #LifeInYour30s
While I muster up enough motivation to step out into the sunlight, check out this week’s recs.
Throw on some real pants, brush your teeth, and let’s get into it.
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
A dark sci-fi voyage between humans and humanoids delivered through a series of staff reports and memos? Yeah, The Employees by Olga Ravn was as wild as it sounds. In our work-driven world, this book hits all the right notes.
I’m finally caught up on season three fo Dave and like the past seasons, it’s surprisingly good TV. So far, season three episode five has hit the hardest with Dave and his crew going down South.
This week was another double dipper in terms of movies nights. Last Sunday we finally watched Ghosted on Apple TV+ and after way too much hype, I say it was a solid B. Funny moments and a ton of cameos, but nothing groundbreaking.
Our Thursday movie night took a more…adult turn. After watching Saturday Night Fever a few weeks ago, we figured we’d give Boogie Nights a shot. Wow. Definitely don’t watch this one with family. It gave me Requiem for a Dream vibes, but with disco and Marky Mark.
Thanks to Schnucks, I found my new snack obsession: Safe and Fair Key Lime Pie popcorn. It’s sweet, savory, and tangy - the Holy Trinity of Taste. Bonus: it’s gluten and dairy-free!
Have you ever found yourself thinking, “It seems like cats don’t want to work these days.” Me neither, but here’s proof that that’s not true.
Did you hear? Hermione and her brother started a gin company!
Need help with eating a better breakfast? I know I do.
Do you live in STL, love Disney, and tolerate a cappella music? There are a few tickets left for One Too Many’s Disney-themed show!
Did I mention in last week’s episode that I’m starting a new Insta account? Oh, I did? Well, in case you skipped it, follow @realfunnybusiness to see the magic first.
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
