Good morning, fam!
Hope you all had a good workweek.
This weekend’s going to be a doozy. We had Cinco de Mayo yesterday and a friend’s wedding tonight which means I will be wrapping myself in a cocoon of blankets and Hulu tomorrow.
While I figure out what I’m going to wear (no white, right?), check out this week’s recs.
Grab that leftover tequila, add some orange juice, and let’s get into it.
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
I’m almost finished with The Anthropocene Reviewed: Essays on a Human-Centered Planet and I can confidently say I’ve never read a book quite like it. It’s a series of essays that explore everything from Diet Dr Pepper to Halley’s Comet and then rates each topic on a scale from one to five stars.
I finally hopped on the Beef train and don’t plan on getting off until the end. What starts as road rage devolves into an obsession between two people. Steven Yuen and Ali Wong are perfectly casted and the supporting roles make them pop even more.
Abby and I tried Three Finger Jack Rum Barrel Aged Red Blend and I was a big fan. If you like red blends and barrel aged stuff, this will be right up your alley.
I don’t usually get excited over phone cases, but after I updated to a Peel case, my phone feels brand new. Simple with no frills. Bonus: the company was started by two St. Louis-based entrepreneurs!
While doing some research for my own t-shirt design, I was reminded of State of the Obvious. It’s one of the best branding projects I’ve probably ever seen.
Have you ever asked yourself, “What do venture capitalists actually do?” Well, here’s a pretty accurate explanation.
If you like snacks as much as I do, then you should check this out.
Stumbled across this millennial playlist on Spotify and it just hits different.
You probably get PTO at work but does your company give you time off for “proactive rest?”
Funny Business (my new Instagram account) will be coming out soon so make sure to follow @realfunnybiz to see the magic first!
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
