Good morning, fam!
Hope you all had a good week.
After hosting our first Thanksgiving, we’re prepping for our big family get-together later today, but I think I may be coming down with something…
While I figure out how much DayQuil is safe, check out this week’s recs.
Bust out those leftovers, plop open a new can of cranberry sauce, and let’s get into it.
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
After finishing Welcome to Wrexham, I couldn’t help but jump into It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and finish the first season (it’s only seven episodes). I’m hooked but some of these episodes would never see the light of day today. (★★★★•)
While we prepped all of the food, we played a few Thanksgiving episodes of Bob’s Burgers in the background. There are a ton of classics, but “Turkey in a Can” (Season 4 Episode 5) is my personal favorite. You can check out all of the Thanksgiving episodes ranked here. (★★★★★)
After browsing through almost every holiday movie ever made, we watched Your Christmas Or Mine? and for a holiday romcom, it was surprisingly good! It co-stars Sex Education’s Asa Butterfield and slew of other British actors. Now that we broke the seal, bring on The Holiday! (★★★••)
While over for Thanksgiving, my sister introduced us to Suika Game (also known as Watermelon Game) for Switch and we’re lost in the sauce. To say this beautifully simple, near-perfect game is “addicting” would be an understatement. The goal is simple: make watermelons. I said simple, not easy. (★★★★★)
I started Thanksgiving morning with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and these Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls with Orange Icing. They aren’t for everyone but I’ve had them ever since I was young so it’s a case of nurture. (★★★••)
For Thanksgiving dinner, we started with a charcuterie board and then went with turkey and ham for the main event. We had all of the classic sides but the best was probably these Tahini-Glazed Carrots. (★★★★•)
I think we can all agree the best part of Thanksgiving is obviously the leftovers. Yesterday, I had my first (of many) leftover turkey sandwiches with Miracle Whip Light and Ocean Spray Jellied Cranberry Sauce and we’re only just getting started. This would easily be part of my dream meal on Off Menu. (★★★★•)
While grocery shopping, I found these non-alcoholic canned drinks from Greenbar Distillery. Pro tip: Go with the UnGin + Tonic or Earl Grey Bitters + Soda, but stay away from the Lavender Bitters + Soda - it’s trash. (★★★★•)
NPR just dropped their “Books We Love” for 2023. How many have you read through so far? (★★★••)
Do you want to get more into public speaking? Don’t fall into the trap of the “amateur presenter.” (★★★★•)
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
