Good morning, fam!
Hope you all had a good week.
Who else is finally in the holiday spirit?! We’re full-swing into the festivities with holiday pop-up bars, Christmas cookies, and matching red and green onesies.
While I figure out what the eff I’m going to get people for the holidays, check out this week’s recs.
Make that list, check it twice, and let’s get into it.
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
I’m currently on season six of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. “The Gang Buys a Boat” is one of my favorites this season. (★★★★•)
Abby and I finally got around to decorating our Christmas tree, baking cookies, and watching our first holiday movie. She picked How to Ruin the Holidays (thanks to her obsession with Henry Zebrowski from The Last Podcast on the Left) and we both agreed it was…meh. Not really funny, not really edgy, only a little heartwarming. (★★•••)
After a brief hiatus, we’re back on our Alamo Drafthouse bullshit. We saw The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes last night and as someone who didn’t read the book, I was pleasantly surprised. Great acting and a little more insight into how messed up the Hunger Games really are. (★★★••)
During our holiday night, we also made a few Daiya gluten-free, dairy-free flatbreads for dinner. We went their Mushroom, Caramelized Onion & Fig Flatbread and their Meatless Italian Sausage Style Crumbles, Roasted Pepper & Kale Flatbread (wayyy better). The “cheese” doesn’t taste as “painty” as other dairy-free options, so that’s a bonus! (★★★••)
If you’re local, drop what you’re doing and speed over to Schnucks - Chex is currently buy two, get one free. I tried Peanut Butter for the first time and I can confidently say it is the best flavor by far. Pro tip: Mix it with Chocolate for the best of both worlds. (★★★★•)
In a moment of weakness during the same grocery run, I tried Reese’s Snack Cakes and they taste exactly how you would imagine: like a cake made out of Reese’s. I think I still prefer the original cups… (★★★••)
For movie night, we didn’t actually watch a movie but we did grab some Mexican food at Condado Tacos. Their “Lucy’s Fire” taco is basically a Chicken Cheesy Gordita Crunch, so you know it’s good. Also, get their “Three Buds” dip trip and try their Pineapple Guac. (★★★★•)
For drinks, I went with their Cactus Juice mocktail and it was one of the best I’ve had in a while. Pricky pear, pineapple, ginger beer, and lemon. (★★★★•)
In case you were offline this week, the Grand Theft Auto VI trailer broke the internet and is currently at 134 MILLION VIEWS after only four days. Whether you play video games or not, it’s worth checking out. These graphics look unreal. (★★★★★)
Shameless plug alert: Come see One Too Many’s holiday show “Snow Day Like Today!” next Sunday, December 17th at 4 PM at Blue Strawberry! I promise, you’ll only be “snowed in” with us for like an hour and a half ;)
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
