Good morning, fam!
We’re full swing into December which means everyone is basically triple-booked for the rest of the year.
While I play Tetris with my calendar to find a little “me time,” check out this week’s recs.
Set up that old school modem, stick in that AOL disc, and let’s get into it!
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
My friend and ex-coworker Jon Robinson published his first book You Are Not an Artist and I promptly blew through it in a few days. It doesn’t matter if you’re a design student or a pro, you’ll find something insightful (I learned the concept of “brand gestalt” while also chuckling at how relatable some of Jon’s anecdotes were.)1
Abby and I started Bob’s Burgers season 13 and it’s just as punny and comforting as I remember it. I can’t think of a better show for anyone who loves wordplay.
For our one-year anniversary, Abby and I splurged and went with the fancy tasting menu and wine pairing at Elaia. There were so many great dishes, but the Beet Tartare (paired with this) and the Elderflower-Poached Apple (paired with this) were by far the standouts.
I never thought I would live to see the day when “goblin mode” became the Oxford “Word of the Year.” You might not know what it means, but you’ve definitely done it.
I have a confession to make: I unknowingly participated in the spread of #fakenews this week when I shared this (false) story about sequel to The Holiday.2 It was quickly debunked by the director.
What’s your take on the A.I. selfie trend polarizing the internet?
As someone who loves sharing food with friends, I thought this was a really neat look at 12 dinner parties from all over the world.
Trying to dethrone Mariah Carey as the “Pop Queen of Christmas?” You might want to start here.
Working on your next creative project? Here’s how to say “Yes, Chef” while getting started.3
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
I may have also proofread an early draft :)
Thanks a lot, Teresa :P
See? Binging shows can be educational!
