Good morning, fam!
Hope you all had a good week.
Abby’s company flew her out here to Boston for a week and I decided to tag along for the second half and honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever fallen in love with a city so quickly.
Bostonians are snarky, have a self-deprecating sense of humor, and love giving each other shit. They’re basically the St. Louisans of the East.
We even had the chance to venture outside of Downtown check out Harvard!1
While I go pahk mah smaht cah in Havahd yahd, check out this week’s recs.
Grab your Dunkin’ coffee, shuck some oysters, and let’s get into it.
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
Abby booked The Dagny for her week in Boston and she nailed it. This hotel is smack dab in the middle of Downtown and it’s so close everything! It even has nifty little reading lights that fold out of the bed! What more could you want?! (★★★★•)
As soon as I dropped off my stuff and changed, we scarfed down some Scallops and Oysters at Fin Point Oyster Bar + Grille (the restaurant on the first floor). For my first seafood here, it was pretty damn good. (★★★••)
After dinner, we walked over to WNDR Museum and checked out all of their “immersive exhibits.” Ya’ll, it was bonkers! It’s made up of a bunch of installation pieces that they encourage you to play with. There was even a $7 million exhibit called “Let’s Survive Forever”?!2 (★★★★•)
The next morning, I popped downstairs to Tradesman Coffee (also in our hotel), grabbed a Cortado, and worked from there for a few hours. It was good, but being the Bougie Bean Boi™ I am, I needed something else. (★★★••)
In search of even better coffee, I stumbled across Ogawa Coffee (a Japanese chain that opened their first U.S. location in Boston) and had my mind blown. I asked the barista what ONE item I should try and he made me their Smoked Maple Bacon Latte. I’m not usually a fan of flavored drinks but it was a little sweet, a little savory, and a lot delicious. You HAVE to try it if you’re in Boston…or Japan. (★★★★•)
Ready for lunch, I walked to the Boston Public Market and perused their different shops. It such a cool area with plenty to choose from, but after Googling “Best Seafood Around Me,” I found…(★★★••)
…ye olde Union Oyster House and holy hell did it not disappoint! Apparently it’s the oldest continuous running restaurant in the country?! I had to try their Claim Chowdah with Cornbread and a few Oysters. Holy shit was it good. The bartender was even kind enough to make me a mocktail with muddled cucumber, ginger beer, and some other stuff. (★★★★•)
Yesterday morning, we decided to pop over to Cambridge so we could work and then check out Harvard because, duh, why wouldn’t we and we lucked out with Tatte Bakery & Cafe. I started with their GF Breakfast Plate and a Cappuccino and then eventually got a Roasted Strawberry Tea Cake and Fig Lemon Mint Soda. This. Place. Was. Amazing. They have locations all over Boston and D.C. (★★★★★)
For our last night here, we walked over to Seaport District and ate at Row 34 where we had a small seafood charcuterie board but the highlight was easily their Oysters. They were so good, we got a second round. (★★★••)
While walking back, we searched for desserts spots and found FoMu in the South End neighborhood and Lyfted down there.3 Guess what? ALL of their ice cream is dairy free!! I tried a mini scoop of their Black Raspberry Chip and a Chocolate Brownie Cookie. We were both on a sugar high when we got back so of course we ended the trip with an episode of The Office, lol. (★★★★•)
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
You know, the birthplace of the dumpster fire that is Facebook?
OK, this is the only one you’re not allowed to touch…for obvious reasons.
Thanks, Enrique!
