Good morning,1 fam!
Hope you all had a good week.
We all must’ve been bumping Hilary Duff’s “Come Clean” at the same time because it’s been raining like crazy, which means temps are finally in the “fall” range.
While I go check our basement for the umpteenth time, check out this week’s recs.
Dust off those sump pumps, make sure those gutters are clear, and let’s get into it.
Here’s what I have for you this morning:2
I watched episode one of The Penguin and it’s crazy how fast you forget Colin Farrell is under all of those prosthetics. He does such a great job playing an antihero in this series that expands The Batman from Matt Reeves. Excited to see even more of Gotham in the coming episodes. (★★★★•)
Abby and I watched the first two episodes of Agatha All Along (Marvel’s newest Disney+ show) and so far, I’m a little underwhelmed. Nothing will come close to WandaVision, but it feels little…forced? We’ll see how the rest plays out. (★★•••)
If you’re like me and slept on the show Ripley for this long, stop what you’re doing, put your phone/computer down, and go watch all eight episodes now. I honestly haven’t seen a show like this in a looong time. It stars Andrew Scott (the hot priest from Fleabag and Moriarty from Sherlock), it’s set in the 1960’s, and it’s shot in black in white which makes every single second in Italy look like a perfume ad. Seriously go watch it. (★★★★★)
After going out with some friends last night, Abby and I had a nightcap at Kenny’s Upstairs and I still think they have some of the best mocktails in St. Louis. Case and point, I had their “Before the Dawn,” which is NA Amaro, Lemon, Hibiscus, Cinnamon, and Foam on top. It was so good, I had to doublecheck about there being no booze. (★★★★•)
I went on yet another snack run this week and got a few things. First up? This Pumpkin Spice Popcorn from Lesser Evil. It’s one of the tastier bagged popcorns and it’s got pumpkin spice. What more do you need? (★★★••)
Next, I got these Breaks from Scharffen Berger and they’re bonkers! They’re gluten free pretzels and seal salt chocolate bark. They’re gluten free, dairy free, and guilt free ;) (★★★★•)
Finally, I’ve had Drizzilicious bites before but I just tried the Salted Caramel and it’s by far the best flavor. If you’re feeling especially snacky (and who isn’t?), mix all three of these snacks together and enjoy while watching Ripley.3 (★★★★•)
Oh, one more snack rec! While stopping by QT for gas, I stumbled across these Dark Chocolate Vanilla Cashew Dipped Clusters from Kind and they blew my mind. They also happened to be one of the only GF/DF snacks in the entire store. (★★★★•)
Do you like interactive quizzes? Are you looking to level up your coffee game at home? Let NYT Wirecutter help you choose the right coffee maker. (★★★••)
Is anybody excited to hear they’re making The Sims into a movie?! Thanks to Margot Robbie’s production company, we should be catching it a few years from now. I guess I should probably brush up on my Simlish... (★★★★•)
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
Evening.
Evening.
I’m not going to stop plugging this show.
