Good morning, fam!
Hope you all had a good week.
As you’ll quickly notice, this week’s episode only has five links. That’s because I decided that moving forward, I’m going to give you quality over quantity which means no more random links in the back half that you’re probably not clicking on any way.1
While I go figure out what to do with all of this extra time, check out this week’s recs.
Hop back in bed, sleep in a little longer, and let’s get into it.
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
I finished reading Demon Copperhead last night and whew, it was a doozy. It’s a modern day retelling of David Copperfield that takes place in the mountains of southern Appalachia and it focuses on the opioid crisis. Yeah, definitely not a light-hearted beach read. (★★★★•)
I binged Nobody Wants This on Netflix and I have to say that despite some of the cringey dialogue and modern tropes (podcasting, Gen Alpha slang, etc.), I weirdly enjoyed it. It was probably because Adam Brody took us back to the good ‘ol O.C. days. Cute rom-com, but don’t expect too much. (★★★••)
On the way to a family bday hang, Abby introduced me to Smosh Reads Reddit Stories and we listened to this episode the entire way. Shayne Topp (apparently an actor) and friends read through funny stories and give their two cents. (★★★••)
During what is quickly becoming my weekly stop into Comet Coffee, the barista convinced me to pick up these Jimmy Gomez beans from September Coffee Co. After trying them at home, I realized I need to invest in a better pour over setup. I have a feeling you might see an AeroPress pop up on next week’s episode… (★★★★•)
In desperate need of a new hat, I stumbled across this Colorblock Baseball Hat from Madewell and I have to say, I look pretty damn good in it. Bonus: it was on sale for onl $16! According to my friend, it looks like the same hat all of the Avengers wear when they’re trying to be incognito. No complaints here ;) (★★★★★)
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
You’re welcome.
