Good morning, fam!
Hope you all had a good workweek.
It’s time to warm up those crockpots, splurge on boatloads of cheap beer, and don our favorite sport shirts (go sports!)
That’s right - It’s Super Bowl Sunday weekend which means next Monday’s going to be a teeny bit rough.
While I stock up on a metric shit-ton of Liquid IV, feel free to check out this week’s recs.
Place your bets, start building that 7-layer dip, and let’s get into it.
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
My buddy Paul recommended Player Piano by Kurt Vonnegut, and after reading it this week, I can’t help but think how ahead of his time Vonnegut was. It’s basically about a future where machines have automated most jobs and the country is now ruled by managers and engineers. Doesn’t sound at all relatable, does it?1
I’m a sucker for nostalgic TV which is why I started the second season of How I Met Your Father. I know, I know. We’re not talking about HBO-level prestige TV here - it’s a warm, cringey blanket that just also happens to have a 38% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Speaking of nostalgia, for this week’s movie night, we finished Johnny Tsunami and it did not disappoint. In case you have no idea what I’m talking about, I promise it’s not a porno. It’s arguably the best Disney Channel Original Movie ever made.
Abby and started Hogwarts Legacy last night while enjoying some homemade Butterbeer cocktails. This one might be controversial after cries to boycott the game thanks to J.K. Rowling and her transphobic essay and tweets, but I think it’s a nuanced conversation. Not transphobia - that is obviously 1000% wrong.
As someone who doesn’t really drink soda anymore, I was hesitant to give Olipop a try, but damn. It tastes just as good and it’s good for your tummy. Win-win!
Are you someone who struggles with getting your work done? I just found out about The Manuscript Writing Café in Tokyo and added it to my travel bucket list. Coffee and accountability? What’s not to like?!
Not a fan of meetings? Imagine how many fewer meetings we would have if you could see how much money was being wasted during each one.
Do you also hate most networking events? Here’s some advice on how to make it suck a little less.
Tired of endless Zoom calls for work? Here’s a little something to take the edge off ;)
Anyone else a fan of conversation pits?
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
