Good morning, fam!
Hope you all had a good workweek.
Totally normal week for weather, amirite? Tornados, above 70° temps, and scattered rain - sounds about par for the course, especially in St. Louis.
While I decide whether or not to break out my shorts permanently, check out this week’s recs.
Dust off your raincoat, find your flip flops, and let’s get into it.
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
Last Sunday, Abby and I hit up Alamo Drafthouse to see John Wick: Chapter 4 and we both walked away with sensory overload. It was essentially one non-stop, three-hour fight scene through New York, Osaka, Tokyo, Berlin, and Paris. The real kicker? Keanu Reeves got paid $15 million for…380 words of dialogue!?!
Welp, I finally did it. After hours and hours of dueling, flying, and searching for the Chamber of Secrets1, I finally beat the story mode of Hogwarts Legacy. Now it’s time to 100% this bad boy.
We doubled up this week for movie night. Sunday, I convinced the gang to watch a cinematic masterpiece from my childhood, by which I of course mean You Got Served. On Thursday, we went with another Tom Cruise throwback and watched Risky Business. I know he’s ageless, but come on - he somehow looks exactly the same now as he was when he was 21?!
During the first movie, we tried Chipotle’s new Chicken al Pastor bowls for the first time and we were all pleasantly surprised. Highly recommend it next time you’re looking to mix things up a little.
Thanks to a good friend (Cheers, Parker!), Abby and I got to see the Cardinals play the Braves (I don’t want to talk about it). What I do want to talk about is the M.D.E.2 chicken sammy and the fries I got from the Big Chicken now at Busch Stadium. Both were shockingly good and came with “Shaq sauce” which could honestly be made with his sweat and I would still eat it.
While enjoying the brief summery weather at Rockwell Beer Garden, I tried Glutenberg Pale Ale for the first time and surprise! It tastes just like the real thing. It had been so long since I had beer, that I forgot I don’t like hoppy beers. Whoopsies!
During a late-night grocery run at Schnucks, I stumbled across Caramel Cold Brew M&Ms and they instantly shot to the top of my list for best M&Ms flavors (up there with Dark Chocolate Mint and Fudge Brownie). I’m still waiting for Toblerone-flavored M&Ms…
As promised last week, here is a PDF version of my talk “You Are Your Own Product: How to share your story online without adding to the noise.” Let me know if it’s helpful!
Writing online was the BEST decision I've made for my career, but when I was starting, I found it hard to share my voice. Here are some things you can do to find your own voice through writing.
Here are “10 Work Emails You Hate Getting.”3
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
Still haven’t found it…
