Good morning, fam!
Hope you all had a good workweek.
Mine was cut short thanks to a little food poisoning last weekend. That’s what I get for being a little too adventurous at a Mexican restaurant…
While I look up safer options for next time, check out this week’s recs.
Bust out those leftover tacos, add some scrambled eggs, and let’s get into it.
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
Since I was sick in bed on Monday, I had a little extra time to finish Beef. Ali Wong and Steven Yuen easily both deserve an Emmy for the last episode alone. If you still haven’t watched it, bump it up to the top of your list.
I know a lot of people are tired of Marvel movies, but after seeing Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 on Sunday, I can confidently say James Gunn put out one of the best trilogies in the entire MCU. It’s the perfect example of how to tell a heart-wrenching story even with a bunch of spaceships flying around.
For movie night, we watched Mama Mia! for the first time and I’m a little embarrassed to admit I had no idea the whole thing was based off of ABBA’s music…probably because I only know a few of their songs, which we promptly wailed at the top of our lungs during the movie.
Me and a few buds met up for dinner and drinks at Taco Buddha and I ordered their special taco of the month: The Jamaica taco - grilled Jamaican Jerk chicken, pineapple pico, jerk spiced aioli, cabbage, green onion, and I made it gluten-free with a corn tortilla. Still the best (Tex-Mex) tacos in St. Louis.
During a dinner party at our friend’s house1, we tried Sexual Chocolate Red Blend for the first time and I loved it. For a nice little chuckle, read the label.
During this week’s Succession, I couldn’t help but notice the gold bomber jacket Alexander Skarsgård was rocking, so I took to @successionfashion and discovered it’s from a Japanese brand called Needles. Just curious - there’s no way I’d ever be cool enough to actually sport it.
The new Zelda game just dropped, which I will probably dive into once I finish Breath of the Wild, but it made take a look back at the legacy of the Zelda series.
What if we could call out nepo babies on Linkedin?
Is anybody else freaking out about this Freaky Friday sequel?!?
I know, I know. I’ve mentioned this for like three weeks in a row now, but if you haven’t already, follow @realfunnybiz to see my new visual series first.
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
I feel so adult typing that.
