Good morning, fam!
Hope you all had a good workweek.
After five long, agonizing years, it’s finally here.
Tomorrow night is one of the biggest nights in TV, and no, we’re not talking about the Emmys. It’s the series finale of Succession1 which means we will finally find out which rich shithead will get the keys to the castle.
To celebrate, this week’s episode comes with a hostile takeover. Saturday Morning Cartoons is being acquired by Succession!2
That’s right - synergy is in the air which means it’s time to maximize profits, minimize losses, and reconsider the optics.
While I look up more business-y words, check out this week’s recs.
Buy low, sell high, and let’s get into it.
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
After hearing all the Pulitzer buzz, I picked up Trust and dived right in. It’s a genre-bending story about money, power, and New York City’s elite…but in the 20’s. It’s basically Succession meets the Great Depression. The Great Succession?
Succession’s penultimate3 episode (“Church and State”) was a doozy last week. Centered around a high-profile funeral (don’t worry - this is a spoiler-free zone), I read that most of it was shot in one continuous take. Check it out before tomorrow night, now on Max! (What a dumb name…)
The question on everyone’s mind: Who’s it gonna be?
Another question you might be wondering: What is Succession really about?
Still have no clue what’s going on in the show? Here’s an explainer even a five-year-old can understand (especially if they love M&M’s).
The attention to detail in Succession is second to none. Don’t believe me? Check out this break down of the show’s theme song and tell me I’m wrong.
Looking for a SparkNotes version of Succession? This Twitter account has you covered. I just hope you like memes :)
Have you ever wanted to watch Roman Roy himself answer questions while eating some of the spiciest hot wings on Earth? Well, now you can.
OK, holy shit. If this TikTok theory is right, then the characters’ names on Succession could reveal who ends up on top.
My newest Funny Business4 post is out! Want a hint? The “friendliest” robots in town.
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
In case you still haven’t seen it, it’s a dark comedy about how rich people are just as miserable as the rest of us. They just get to hate themselves while flying to Lake Como on a private jet.
Don’t worry - it’s only one week ;)
God I love that word.
OK, not really Succession-related, but it does have to do with business.
