Good morning, fam!
Hope you all had a good week.
Have you ever watched a show and thought Pssh, I could do that!
Like millions of others who have Netflix accounts, I’m revisiting Suits and I can’t help but wonder if I would make a good lawyer…
There’s just the teeny issue of having zero chill, a horrible poker face, and I can’t remember what I had for breakfast let alone what the Missouri statute of limitations is for fraud or debt collection claims.1
On second thought, I’ll leave it to the professionals.2
While I Google “How to apply to Harvard Law,” check out this week’s recs.
Put on your best suit(pants), hunt down that memo, and let’s get into it.
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
As someone who freelanced for a decade, I’ve always been fascinated with the idea of personal branding. That’s why I couldn’t help but check out Self Made, a historical look at “self image” from the Renaissance to Silicon Valley. Parts of it got little dense, but overall it was an interesting read! (★★★••)
For movie night, we went with Ghostbusters: Afterlife and I enjoyed, like, two thirds of it! The last act jumps the shark pretty hard and Paul Rudd is criminally underutilized, but it was a nice balance of the old and new. (★★★••)
Like I was saying up top, I went deep on Suits this week. We’re talking about finishing the first two seasons in the matter of five days. Yeah, I know. I have a problem. It’s witty, dramatic, and it takes something as nonsensical as law and turns it into 45 minutes of easy watching. If you don’t like it, you can hold me in contempt ;) (★★★★★)
Speaking of Suits, here’s basically ever episode in a nutshell. (★★★••)
During a happy hour yesterday, I randomly ordered a Topo Chico and honestly, I forgot how good they are! Simple, no frills, and they make drinking water suck a little less. (★★★★•)
After trying it for the first time last week at Bulrush, I picked up a bottle of Leitz Eins Zwei Zero Sparkling Rosé and damn is it good. I think I’m finally starting to hit my stride with this whole NA thing. (★★★★•)
Ever wonder how the 1% live? I stumbled across Amanda Seyfried’s episode of the AD Open Door series and I’m hooked. Who wouldn’t want to snoop through beautiful homes owned by beautiful people? (★★★••)
To celebrate 50 years of hip-hop, check out the most iconic hip-hop samples of every year. You might even recognize a few. (★★★••)
Working with clients? Check out this list of client nonnegotiables I found on Twitter and consider creating your own. (★★★★•)
Have you been to any networking events post pandemic? If so, you probably came across at least one of the “People You Meet at a Networking Event.” (★★★★•)
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
FYI: it’s ten years. You’re welcome ;)
And by professionals, I mean actors.
