Good morning, fam!
Hope you all had a good week.
Per usual, I have no idea what I’m going to be for Halloween Weekend and I have roughly eight hours to figure it out.
While I sort though these timely costume ideas, check out this week’s recs.
Dust off your Barbenheimer outfit, get those T-Swift BFF bracelets ready, and let’s get into it.
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
Well, fam. After god knows how many hours spent, I did it. I finally finished all of Suits and it’s bittersweet. We laughed, we cried, and we watched one or two characters jump the shark real hard. Just like ending any long-term relationship, I’m going to need some time before I jump into anything serious. Always open to suggestions! (★★★••)
We finished What We Do in the Shadows season five and it was one of the best yet. There’s a huge plot twist that ends up not really being a twist, but I’ll let you see for yourself. Already looking forward to season six. (★★★★•)
Another week, another Twilight movie. We knocked out Eclipse and honestly, the only bright spot is that steamy tent scene between Bella, Jacob, and Edward. In case you didn’t know by now, this newsletter is 100% #TeamJacob so you vampire lovers can go kick rocks. (★★•••)
For movie night, we gave Coraline a shot and I…fell asleep. Some of the parts I did see where visually cool but the story didn’t seem super compelling. I will, however, be having nightmares about people with black buttons for eyes. (★★•••)
After what felt like an eternity, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 finally came out and I don’t think I’ve ever played through a game so quickly. It’s not just the best superhero game ever made (sorry Batman Arkham fans) - I think it also took the “best sequel” title (Sorry The Last of Us 2 fans). It has everything you could possibly want: a multi-layered, high-stakes story, emotional acting better than some of the Marvel movies,1 huge improvements to gameplay and controls, and…web wings!!! You better believe I went platinum in the matter of days2 and am now flying around New York with Miles wearing the Across the Spider-Verse suit, which is obviously the best suit. No notes. (★★★★★)
A buddy of mine sent me an invite to Lapse and I decided to give it a shot. They’re positioning it as “The invite-only disposable camera,” which is accurate because it’s basically Snapchat, but with nostalgic, disposable camera vibes. If you’re looking for a simple, less-evil social network, give it a shot. (★★★••)
While picking up a few snacks for Abby at an international grocery store, I found Hiyo Blackberry Lemon Social Tonic. It’s flavored seltzer with adaptogens, nootropics, and botanicals that’s supposed to give you “the float” - a mood-boosting sensation. Not sure I felt it but it’s tasty as hell! (★★★★•)
How much would you pay for a human-sized dog bed? I’m not sure but I’m not ashamed to admit I’m definitely tempted. After all, I have slept in an actual dog bed but that’s another story for another episode ;) (★★★••)
War, huh, yeah! What is it good for? Apparently donuts. As both a pacifist and a donut fiend, I’m a little conflicted… (★★★★•)
Looking for a new notebook? If you’re a little choosy like me, then you might find this helpful for choosing your next one. (★★★••)
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
I know, I know. Some of those movies require zero acting, but still.
Going platinum: Completing the story mode, finding 100% of all collectibles, and winning all of the PlayStation trophies.
