Good morning, fam!
Hope you all had a good week.
After a successful Bring Your Own Sauce Party last weekend (the top-voted sauce was a homemade truffle pasta sauce), I’ve been spending the second half of this week posted up on the couch recovering from surgery.1
While I take my 1000th nap of this week, check out this week’s recs.
Switch out that icepack, gobble up some more Ibuprofen, and let’s get into it.
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
I may have been a little extra and ordered a few different sauces for the party. The first (and by far the bougiest) was the Corn Yuzu Hot Sauce from Noma Projects, the product arm of the famed restaurant in Copenhagen. It had the trifecta of taste: sweet, savory, and spicy. One of my personal favorites! (★★★★★)
Next up was Beaver Brand Honey Mustard. As a self-proclaimed honey mustard connoisseur, it was probably the best I’ve had. We’ve been using it on all of the leftover chicken, fries, and tots we’ve been air frying thanks to our new housewarming gift.2 (★★★★•)
Finally, I ordered this Japanese BBQ Sauce from Bachan’s. It was really good, but a friend brought this Japanese BBQ Cooking Sauce from Kinder’s and it was one of my favorites of the night. It had a slight tang like you’d find in a hoisin sauce. (★★★★•)
Now for the #couchcontent I’ve been binging during my recovery. I finished the final season of Sex Education and it hit real hard. It was a such a beautifully progressive show and this final season was maybe the most inclusive season of TV I’ve ever seen. Definitely worth watching all the way through. (★★★★•)
Next, I blew through Gen V, the new series based in the world of The Boys. Imagine The Avengers, but wayyy darker and in college. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart - every episode has a warning based on sex, drugs, and/or violence, but it’s an interesting commentary on how the world would cope with real superheroes.(★★★••)
Speaking of superheroes and their effect on the real world, I started the next season of Invincible, an animated show that has a very similar vibe to The Boys. It’s about a teenage boy with powers who is dealing with the fallout of his supervillain dad who wants to enslave the world. You know, typical teen stuff. (★★★★•)
Yesterday, I watched Loki Season 2 and it finally feels like Marvel is back on the tracks. They took all of the best parts of season one and made it even more meta. Plus, they brought in Ke Huy Quan as a key role and really let hime shine. I’m excited to see how the fallout effects the MCU moving forward. (★★★★•)
Speaking of Marvel, here’s a deeper dive on everything that has happened in the recent past and they’re plan for moving forward. (★★★••)
As of writing this, I also just finished The Righteous Gemstones Season 3. Danny McBride continues to poke fun at megachurches and the insanely wealthy families behind them and this season included even more family dysfunction and religious shenanigans.3 (★★★••)
Who doesn’t need a little pick me up while stuck on the couch? I finally upgraded our espresso game with this dosing ring and distribution tool from Normcore and I can already taste a difference thanks to a few extra seconds of TLC. (★★★••)
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
A double verecocelectomy.
Thanks Paulie and JLynn!!
How many times did they say the words Baby Billy’s Bible Bonkers?!
