Good morning, fam!
Hope you all had a good week!
Abby and I took our relationship to the next level and WE FINALLY GOT A COSTCO MEMBERSHIP!!!1
With that being said, this week’s episode will obviously be unofficially sponsored by Costco…that is, unless any of my readers happen to work in corporate. In that case, let your boi know how sponsorships and/or affiliating marketing work because I am 100% not above selling out if it means joining the Costco fam.
While I swim around in all of the money I saved at Costco à la Scrooge McDuck, check out this week’s recs.
Empty out the trunk of your car, pull out that membership card, and let’s get into it.
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
I just finished reading The Biography of X and I can confidently say I don’t think I’ve read another book like it. It’s a fictional biography about a mysterious artist who goes by X and has various personas and it takes place in an alternate reality where the Southern states seceded from the U.S. Yeah, it’s as wild as it sounds. (★★★••)
Thanks to our friend Paul, we went deep on The Traitors UK Peacock and finished it in one week. Imagine Werewolf or Mafia but in IRL and in a freaking Scottish castle! Pro tip: Stick with the UK version - they’re regular people who actually give a damn about each other. In true American fashion, the U.S. version casted a bunch of B-list reality stars who are desperate for attention. Hard pass. (★★★★•)
OK, now let’s get to the good part. First up in our Costco haul was this Topo Chico Sabores Mix Pack. It comes with Blueberry, Tangerine, and Lime with Mint which is obviously the best flavor. I’ve been futzing around and using these to make some pretty tasty mocktails. (★★★★•)
Next up were these Frozen Super Smoothie Packs. They have been an absolute godsend for breakfast in the morning. Add a little almond milk and you’re good to go. (★★★••)
Speaking of breakfast, we also got these Mush Overnight Oats which came in Vanilla Bean, Dark Chocolate, and by far the best, Peanut Butter. Pro tip: Add some chopped up banana and cinnamon to any of them. (★★★★•)
Moving on. For lunch, we’ve been getting a little creative and have been making our own tuna sushi rolls. We start these Roasted Seaweed Squares, add a mix of canned tuna, Kewpie Japanese Mayo, and chopped cucumbers, and then top it with this Bachan’s Japanese BBQ Sauce. (★★★★•)
Time to brag. In a fit of pre-a cappella practice panic, I threw together a chicken pesto pasta using a FIVE DOLLAR ROTISSERIE CHICKEN, frozen broccoli, this Banza Chickpea Penne Pasta, and pesto all within 20 minutes flat. I even had time to clean?! (★★★★•)
OK, now for the reason we’re all here: snacks. After a glowing recommendation from a co-worker, I started with a bag of their Dried Mango and I never thought dried fruit could taste this good. (★★★★•)
For the “Best Snack” runner up, these Dark Chocolate Fig Truffles have been freaking dangerous. They’re like sexy Fig Newtons…but without the chalky cookie…and covered in dark chocolate. OK, you know what? Forget I said that. (★★★★•)
And now for the main event! Without a doubt, the best snack we got at Costco were the…drumroll please…I’ll wait…thank you…Cashew Clusters! No contest and in case you weren’t aware, this isn’t a democratic newsletter. It’s a dictatorship which means these are now the official snack of Saturday Morning Cartoons. You know what? Screw it. First person to text “Cashew Clusters” to 314.324.7838 gets a free bag of their own. You just have to wait until the next time we go to Costco…which let’s be honest, might even be tomorrow. (★★★★★)
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
We’d like to thank our friend Chris for being our spirit guide during our first trip.
