Good morning, fam!
Hope you all had a good we…
I’M WRITING A BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK, sorry about that - I must’ve blacked out for a second but the rumors (that we’re starting right here, right now) are true. After two failed attempts over the past decade, I’m finally pulling the trigger.1
It’s called Fumbling Forward: Short Stories & Life Lessons From a Rather Unusual Career and I’m writing it for anyone who still isn't sure how to answer the question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?"
Think of it as equal parts humor, memoir, and career advice told in five parts:
Eating Sh!t - Working in customer service
Studying Hard - Working through college
Flying Solo - Working as a freelancer
Teaming Up - Working with business partners
$elling Out - Working in corporate America

While I go get my author photo just right, check out this week’s recs.
Update your Goodreads profile, fire up #BookTok, and let’s get into it.
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
I just finished The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue and as someone who isn’t usually into fantasy or romance, I really enjoyed the premise (and the spicy little twist at the end). It’s making me wonder…would I make a deal with the Devil if it meant I could live forever? Nah, probably not. (★★★••)
After 2+ years of marriage, I finally realized I should suck it up and watch more horror movies with Abby. She took it easy on me this week and chose Insidious: The Red Door. Honestly, not super scary but it does drum up some scary memories of going to frat parties in college. (★★•••)
We watched Next Goal Wins for movie night and Taika Waititi strikes again! It’s a funny look at the infamously terrible American Samoa soccer team and what they did after their brutal 2001 FIFA match were they lost 31-0. Cute, feel good, and Michael Fassbender gets to cook during an inspirational locker room pep talk scene. (★★★••)
To prep for the sequel, we rewatched Dune: Part One last night and I was reminded of how almost no one else can touch Denis Villeneuve and his track record with visually stunning movies. He proves that shitty cinematography really is the mind-killer. (★★★★•)
After seeing it everywhere online, I finally caved and downloaded Helldivers 2 for PS5. Thanks to my buddy Daniel, I now realize the hype. This game is freaking amazing, especially if you have a friend or two who also has it. Each mission is like being dropped into a scene from Starship Troopers with a friend and you have to knock out specific tasks to complete the mission before extracting your butts outta there. Oh, and the musical scoring freaking slaps! (★★★★•)
After about a month of waiting, I finally got my bottle of Pathfinder Sprit in the mail and it is probably the best NA alternative I’ve ever tried. If you’re a fan of amaro and have considered going sober, you HAVE to try this. Pro tip: Mix it with a little Olipop Classic Root Beer for a nice little mocktail. (★★★★•)
It’s a big moment for all of the Jabronis out there: The Rock now owns his name along with a bunch of other nicknames and catchphrases from his time in WWE. My favorite is “Roody Poo.”2 (★★★••)
I found this list of “Podcasts for Food Lovers” and was deeply offended that Off Menu wasn’t on the list. HUGE miss if you ask me.3 (★★•••)
My designer brain is pretty freaking happy that Microsoft finally decided to change their default font to Aptos. What do all of you fellow PowerPointers think? (★★★••)
Did I mention that I’M WRITING A BOOK?!? Sorry, I’m just a wee bit excited. Interested? Go to fumblingbook.com to learn more and subscribe for book updates and pre-order info. (★★★★★)4
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
I guess the third time really is the charm.
Hopefully I won’t get sued for using it in this newsletter…
Which you are because you’re reading this ;)
I know, it’s douchey to give my own book five stars but I’m pretty freaking pumped ya’ll!
