Mine somehow felt twice as long even though I took yesterday off so that we could spend a long weekend here in Nashville for the Fallout Boy concert!
High school me is flipping his shit in anticipation for tomorrow night.

Here’s what I have for you this morning:
I finished one of 2024’s most anticipated books Martyr! by poet Kaveh Akbar and I really enjoyed it. He includes some beautifully poetic lines (“Our pond was in the center of a kind of valley, a few spoonfuls of soup at the bottom of a big bowl.”) and a plot that perfectly balances heavy themes with humor, but there was a lot going on. You have the main plot told in third person, side plots in first person, lines of poetry, and dream conversations between fictional characters. Great but not my favorite. (★★★••)
Abby and I saw Late Night with the Devil not at Alalmo (gasp!) and I honestly liked it way more than I thought. I’m not the biggest fan of horror but loved the 70’s found footage angle they went with. It was also cool seeing David Dastmalchian in a lead role considering he has played a supporting part in basically every superhero movie ever including The Dark Knight, Ant-Man, and The Suicide Squad. (★★★★•)
Are rich people bad? This is the first question Classy, a new podcast from Jonathan Menjivar, tries to answer. It’s an interest look into how society views wealth, class, and how we see others. (★★★••)
Instead of movie night, we went to Texas Roadhouse (my first time) and my world was absolutely rocked. To be honest, nothing else was really worth calling out other than their ROLLS AND CINNAMON BUTTER?!?! How have I never basked in this heavenly glory?! I had two before dinner and one for dessert, so…there’s that. (★★★★★)
While at Jay’s International, I found this Boss Coffee Flash Brew from Japan and holy hell it will put hair on pretty much every part of your body. It was almost too strong, which is something I’d never thought I hear myself say. (★★•••)
Abby picked up Cheetos Crunchy Buffalo and hot take,1 they are better than their Flamin’ Hot counterparts. I know! It’s blasphemy but it’s also true! So. Freaking. Good. (★★★★•)
I know fast fashion is evil, but sometimes you just need a black tank top to go under your knit polos. I found these from from H&M and I will be wearing them until they disintegrate off of my body.2 (★★★••)
While at a coffeeshop (shocker), I heard “Lost in My Boots” by KWAYE, asked Siri who the hell sings this song, and then immediately added it to my “Like Playlist” on Spotify. So vibey. (★★★★•)
