Good morning, fam!
Hope you all had a good week.
For me, it was bonkers for personal reasons, but we made it ya’ll.
On the bright side, this week had hella stars AND I’m currently in my happy place - a coffeeshop1 - and I’m here to actually get some writing done.
While I stare out this window and procrastinate, check out this week’s recs.
Go get another cup of coffee, grab a pastry, and let’s get into it.
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
Me and a few friends saw Book of Mormon at the Fox (my second time) and it was just as funny as the first. In fact, whoever played Elder Cunningham deserves a Tony - he was easily the best part of the entire show. (★★★★•)
For an easy date night, Abby and I got a bunch of tin fish, set up a table in our backyard, and dined al fresco. Some of our favorites were the Slow Smoked Mackerel and Sardines with Lemon from Fishwife, this Plaza Trout Caviar (not as fancy as it sounds), and my personal favorite, Wild Pulpo Octopus in Olive Oil from Matiz. I know, octopi are intelligent creatures…but they’re also delicious. (★★★★•)
While at World Market, I also picked up this Yuzu Premium Soda from Something & Nothing and drank it on the way home. So. Freaking. Good. (★★★★•)
You can’t have tin fish without wine, so I naturally went with this Fre NA ChardonNAy2 from Total Wine. Definitely one of the better NA Chardonnays I’ve had (and after nine months without booze, I’ve had A LOT). (★★★★•)
On our latest Costco run, I found these Dark Chocolate Covered Mangoes and I don’t know how Costco hasn’t been fined - this shit should be illegal. Take their best-selling dried mango and dunk it in dark chocolate? Yeah, it tastes exactly like it sounds. Nirvana. (★★★★•)
OK, we also did a lap are Target (pronounced “Tar-zhay”) and I stumbled across possibly the best flavor of Oreos ever invented: Churro muthafucking Creme. Ya’ll, I’m serious - you HAVE to try these even if you’re gluten intolerant like me. #worthit (★★★★★)
Instead of movie night, we went to Hacienda (a childhood favorite) for some Mexican food and I had some bomb Barbacoa and the best damn virgin marg I’ve ever had. (★★★★•)
Since we were already taking a trip down memory lane, we ended up at Frozen Custard Factory for dessert. I combined their Bahama Brownie and Malibu Mocha into one concrete which proves even indecisive people can make the best decisions. (★★★★•)
While at Quarrelsome for last week’s Study Groop, I tried their new Aromas Del Sur Colombian blend and damn was it good. I’m telling you they don’t miss. (★★★★•)
For “Fumbling Forward Friday,” I decided to set the record straight and prove that writers/creatives can be organized. How? I made my Miro board for Fumbling Forward public.
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
No, I’m not at Barnes & Noble…yet.
See what I did there?
