Good morning, fam!
Hope you all had a good week.
After getting back from our PCH trip, we went on full holidays.
We’re talking cookie swaps, white elephant gift exchanges, and putting up our decorations. Now, all I have to do is finish my mad dash of Christmas shopping, and I’ll be good to go.
While I do so from the comfort of my couch, check out this week’s recs.
Pull up that Amazon cart, save those gift receipts, and let’s get into it.
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
UPDATES
Rolling Stone had something to say about One Too Many’s new (leaked) holiday album FIVE GOLDEN SINGS?! Give it a listen and then snag your tickets to the show to find out who leaked it.

For movie night, we went to Menya Rui for the first time (★★★★★) and then watched The Merry Gentlemen (★••••). The Pork Shoyu ramen was fire and the movie was hot garbage. So much so that we fast-forwarded most of it to get to the dancing scenes. Even those were meh. Save yourself the trouble and just watch Magic Mike XXL.
After finally setting up our Christmas tree and decorating last night, we watched Our Little Secret, and it was surprisingly better than most of the holiday rom-coms out right now.1 Lindsay Lohan gets the chance to be a little funny, and the plot is somewhat believable. What more could you ask for? (★★★★•)
I finished Alan Wake 2 on PS5 this morning, and it was a total mind fuck of a video game. If you’re a fan of cults, dark crime, and non-linear, meta storytelling, then you’ll absolutely love this game. It was honestly one of the most unique stories I’ve seen in a video game and a completely different game from the first. Just don’t play it at night… (★★★★•)
While waiting for our flight back to St. Louis on Sunday, Abby turned me onto Plants vs. Zombies 2, and I’m hooked. There is so much to this mobile game that it will keep you occupied for hours…which might be a bad thing… (★★★★•)
During our first morning back (but still off of work), we stopped by Comet Coffee, and I had some of the best coffee I’ve had all year.2 I tried a double shot of their Entre Montañas Mokka Espresso from Manhattan Coffee Roasters and their Colombia Buttercream Pour Over from September. Both were total bangers, and I will 100% be buying both beans as a Christmas gift to myself. (★★★★★)
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
